Drive through the Eastern Desert from Hurghada to Luxor and visit the tombs of the Pharaohs in the Valley of the Kings, the amazing Karnak Temple complex, Hatshepsut Temple and Luxor Temple.
Early morning pick up from your Hurghada hotel and transfer to Luxor in a private, air conditioned vehicle. The drive to Luxor takes you through the Eastern Desert and takes approximately 4 hours with a convenience stop along the way.
Arriving in Luxor your Egyptologist guide will join you and you will drive straight to the West Bank to visit to the Valley of the Kings, the ancient burial ground of the Pharaohs from the New Kingdom, hidden in the limestone hills of Gurna. Your visit includes entry into three tombs, however if you wish to enter the tomb of Tutankhamun there is an additional ticket cost. Visit the temple of Queen Hatshepsut with its unique design - the only temple in Egypt built in terrace formation into the cliff face. The relief sculpture within the temple recites the tale of the divine birth of a female pharaoh – the first of its kind, along with the first commercial trading expedition to the ancient land of Punt (today’s Somalia). On leaving the West Bank, you will stop at the Colossi of Mammon, which are the only remaining standing statues fronting the mortuary temple of Amenhotep III and show the pharaoh sitting on his throne. Arriving back on the East Bank, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before visiting the magnificent Karnak Temple complex, the largest ancient temple complex in the world. Consisting of temples, chapels, obelisks, sanctuaries, a sacred lake and the imposing Hypostyle Hall of 134 gigantic columns, Karnak Temple is the second most visited site in Egypt. Your Luxor tour ends with a visit to Luxor Temple, one of the wonderful temples of Egypt. Located in the heart of the city, and originally connected to Karnak Temple by the Avenue of Sphinx, Luxor Temple was of great significance to the ancient Egyptians.
Say goodbye to your guide and continue the drive back to your hotel in Hurghada.
